Saturday was a top day with choice to watch the Olympics opening on TV, go to Sexpo in Brisbane, but let common sense prevail and chose the Lure Expo in company with Gary [paint].
First stop was the Fernvale bakery for pie and coffee then joined the big turn out at the hall for the lure show.
Had a front row seat at 9.30 to watch and demo by Tom from Gidgee Lures who carved a lure with a Stanley knife and pleased to see my method of whittling was OK and very reassuring when you see a pro doing the same thing ..... that for me was my highlight of the trip.
Caught up with Jas [NICHO1] and had a yarn for for a while, and like many others put hand in the pocket to buy more lures, and I bought from Wal at Illusion Lures, also had a long wander around a crowded hall looking at all the other exhibitors.
The whole conception and planning was due to Fitzy and am sure numbers would have exceeded his wildest estimates, and he has kicked another goal like the Wivenhoe Kayak Fishing Convention in September, and as usual with his activities the proceeds benefited the stocking groups.
Will now add future lure expos to the must attend list each year, and after another pie we departed Fernvale for the return to GC in the early arvo.
